WJLA-TV News: UMD Immersive Technology Places Students in Lifelike Medical Settings

A feature story from Emmy award-winning WJLA-TV news anchor Lindsey Mastis highlights a unique collaboration between University of Maryland computer visualization experts and instructors in the Physician Assistant (PA) program at the University of Maryland, Baltimore.

The cross-institutional team is developing a novel immersive training tool to help first-year PA students recognize and assess stroke symptoms in a clinical setting. The project is led by Amitabh Varshney, professor of computer science and dean of the College of Computer, Mathematical, and Natural Sciences at the University of Maryland, and Cheri Hendrix, associate professor and director of the physician assistant program at the University of Maryland, Baltimore.
